Fort Monroe to be discussed at Phoebus meeting

HAMPTON – The future of Fort Monroe will be discussed at a citizen engagement meeting in Phoebus tonight.

The meeting in the community that will feel the most significant effects of the Army's withdrawal from Monroe in September 2011, has been arranged by Hampton City Councilwoman Angela Leary. It will be held at Phoebus Auction House at 6:30 p.m. It follows a similar meeting in August.

"Our last meeting at Phoebus Auction House was well attended and no question went unanswered. The audience gave the staff a standing ovation for their openness, straight forward, easy to understand responses to every single question," Leary said.

"They promised to bring back more information at this event updating us on questions that were asked and answered in August."
