Ft. Monroe receives 200 housing unitsWavy.com Thursday, 04 Aug 2011 FORT MONROE, Va. (WAVY) - The Fort Monroe Authority (FMA) announced today that it has signed a lease agreement with the U.S. Army to receive nearly 200 Army family housing units. This agreement was reached six weeks ahead of the Army's departure from Fort Monroe on Sept. 15, 2011. According to the U.S. Army, this transfer of housing units is unprecedented among BRAC closures, both for the volume of units released and because it "occurred seamlessly." Successful transfers of residential units from the U.S. Army to the FMA result in many military families having the opportunity to stay in their homes and make commutes without having to relocate. |
