Gov. McDonnell announces appointees for Fort Monroe panelFive citizens will serve on new body to oversee transition of base from Army in September 2011.By David Macaulay, dmacaulay@dailypress.com | 247-7838 HAMPTON – Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has announced his five citizen appointees to the new Fort Monroe Authority. They are G. Robert Aston Jr., President and CEO of Towne Bank; Colin G. Campbell, President and CEO of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; James Church, the President of Freedom Automotive; Kim Maloney, President of Williamsburg Pottery and John R. Lawson II, President and CEO of W.M. Jordan. The announcement was welcomed by Fort Monroe Authority Executive Director Bill Armbruster. "The governor's appointments represent expertise in finance, real estate and tourism. These appointments will aid us in the operation and management of Fort Monroe as we move forward to implement the reuse plan, approved in 2008," he said. The new 11-member authority created on July 1 also includes Doug Doug Domenech, Secretary of Natural Resources, James S. Cheng, Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Senator John Miller and Del. Tom Gear from the General Assembly and Hampton Mayor Molly Joseph Ward and councilman Ross A. Kearney, II. |
