Cpl Richard Stewart, US Army

After having completed Basic Training at Ft Gordon,GA, I was assigned to Ft Monroe to duty in the communication dept of the Hqtrs of Continental Army Command. Our billets were on the parade ground. I worked outside the moated area reached by footbridge. Once, during a strong storm, the water in the moat reached the paving of the bridge. I was not there very long but remember the fort.

You don’t mention when you were stationed at Ft Monroe but my Dad was NCOIC of the Conarc comm center on three separate tours between 1947 and 1962 when he retired. I got to visit inside the big building across from the Post Office many times. M/SGT John Gorjup was his name.

BTW, I was trained on Chinooks at Ft Eustis during my own service, which included Vietnam.
Thanks for your service
